Our Latest Expansion

Mauritius

Leading Construction Quality Assurance in Mauritius

At the start of 2022 Roadlab launched it's first branch in Mauritius, a bold new step which expanded Roadlab's footprint to include 22 countries.

In the last few months our Mauritius team has built a facility with world-class capabilities. We have begun to provide a number of local and international companies with a breadth and standard of construction quality assurance that until now was not available on the island.

Mauritius is set to host the 2022 African Economic Conference (AEC) from this December.

Presence in Mauritius

Our Roadlab Mauritius team has been very active in the last few months.

We have conducted a range of investigations for local construction companies as well as international contractors working on major residential and commercial projects across the island.

Our contributions to these projects have revolved primarily around establishing the bearing capacity of the soil and the integrity of concrete for construction.

In light of this, we have recently expanded our scope of test methods to ensure we can provide the widest range of in-demand services. We use the latest standards, including British Standards (BS1377-9 1990), Aashto (T222-81) and NFP (94-117:2000 EV1/EV2).

We do however expect an increased demand for our non-destructive scanning services and our wider range of integrity and durability testing for roads and buildings.

We are in the process of accrediting our facility with an ISO 9001:2015 Certified ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification to give our clients even greater trust in the results produced by our Mauritius facility.

Mauritius is home to a major tourism industry and many major construction projects with international financing.

Major Projects

Anbalaba Development

Roadlab contributed to various earthworks to help realise the recent successful development of an unobstructed view over the ocean and a lagoon for all of the villas of the Anbalaba development project, while protecting the raw landscape of beautiful Baie du Cap.

Our site investigations helped to realise an exceptional view for the Anbalaba villas while maintaining total respect of the environment. As per their vision, Anbalaba favoured the installation of vegetated embankments and a retention basin rather than retaining walls and designed their drains to ensure that rainwater management respects the environment and the well-being of the local population.

Tribeca Central

Roadlab is assisting in the construction of Tribeca Central, a 150,000sqm landmark mixed-use development in the well-connected heart of Mauritius. Positioned to be Mauritius' new International District, it will include premium offices and over 200 stores anchored by two iconic office and hotel towers.

We are currently performing plate bearing testing according to NFP methods to provide deflection, K Values and EV1/EV2 values. We have also performed Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) testing as part of critical site investigations.

Verdant Garden

Roadlab is helping BCEG with the first phase of construction of Verdant Garden, a development situated 330m above sea level in the north-western part of the city along Terre Rouge River. This phase involves the construction of 156 apartments within two of the five buildings, offering unobstructed views of the Moka Mountain Range and gorgeous surroundings.

We are currently performing site investigations to establish the bearing capacity of the environment and other critical geotechnical insights that will enable the successful construction of phase 1.

Le Saint Géran

Roadlab is working with Stefanutti Stocks and Hyvec Partners Ltd to expand One&Only Le Saint Géran, a luxury hotel at the northern tip of the renowned Belle Mare coastline.

We are currently performing plate bearing testing as part of critical site investigations to establish the bearing capacity of the environment to facilitate the construction of new villas.

Mauritius is home to over 1.2 million people, giving it the highest population density in Africa.
