BUILD IT.
Roadlab Bloemfontein is proud to have supported the Koruson 1 Renewable Energy Project, a landmark development forming part of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPPP) Round 5.
Once operational, the project will generate low-carbon electricity capable of supplying approximately 193,000 South African households, making a meaningful contribution to the country’s energy transition.
The leadership and technical oversight of Anelisa Mafala was crucial in maintaining our high standards.
Roadlab’s Role in this Project
Roadlab was appointed to provide ongoing materials testing and quality control in support of critical construction activities across the wind farm sites.
Our scope included:
Plate Load Testing to determine the bearing capacity of turbine foundations
CBR testing to verify access road stability and foundation reinforcement
Ongoing field support to ensure compliance with design and performance requirements
These tests are essential in ensuring that turbine foundations and access infrastructure are built on verified, stable ground — a non-negotiable requirement given the scale and loading of modern wind turbines.
